Martha Wilkinson-Kirouac won the first women's national championship in any sport at Cal State Fullerton in 1967. She won the Division of Girls' and Women's Sports golf championships in Seattle that year. 

In 1970, Wilkinson-Kirouc had one of the most remarkable amateur campaigns. That year she won five amateur titles, including the U.S Women's Amateur and the Women's Trans-Mississippi Amateur. She also played on the winning 1970 U.S Curtis Cup team and Women's World Amateur Team Championships.
