FULLERTON, Calif.--- Sarah Fajnor's goal in the 37th minute proved to be the difference as Team Stripes earned a 1-0 victory over Team White, Sunday afternoon at Titan Stadium in an intrasquad scrimmage.
Sunday's scrimmage served as a great tune up for the 2017 season, as the Titans will kick things off with an exhibition affair vs. San Diego State next Saturday at 5 p.m. PT.
Former Titan great Brian Dunseth was in attendance. He is currently a commentator for the MLS and formerly played on the US Men's National Team. He spoke at the Titans' Wine Mixer following the game.
"The returners looked good today," said head coach Demian Brown. "The returning unit picked up right where it left off in the spring. I was really impressed with the new players. They are all very talented and are going to make great decisions this year."
Both teams looked good as the game came down to the very end. Fajnor 's first half goal was a beauty, as she dribbled inside the box and shot and scored a rocket from the left side after Connie Caliz provided her with the assist.
Team Stripes outshot Team White, 20-10 for the game while they also held a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks. Both goalies were solid in net, as Morgan Bertsch tallied 10 saves for Team White and Tianna Sanders recorded six saves for Team Stripes.
Atlanta Primus led all players with three shots on goal, while Samantha Koemans led both sides with five shots overall. Haley Brown led things offensively for Team White, recording three shots with two being on goal.
Titans will get back to work this week as they look forward to beginning the regular season.
