BIG WEST RELEASE
IRVINE, Calif. - It was announced by the Big West Conference on Monday that senior forward
Cassie Villanueva of the Titans women's soccer team was named the Big West Offensive Player of the Week for the fourth week of the season.
Villanueva played a big role in each of the Titan's two wins at home this past week against UNLV and the University of Portland. This is her first award for the Titans after previously earning three freshman of the week awards in 2023 at UNLV.
Against her former team UNLV, Villanueva scored the first goal of the game after scoring on a penalty kick. She later assisted the second goal of the game after helping set up
Sasha Amezcua to score to make it 2-0.
She scored the winning goal against the University of Portland in the 80th minute in a 1-0 win. It was her second game winning goal of the season. She scored on a corner kick from
Kaylin Raibon after who header deflected off a Pilots defender into the net.
Villanueva is tied for second in the conference with four goals and is also second in the conference with 11 points so far this season.
The Titans wrap up non-conference play on Sunday against Washington State. Kick-off is set for 2:00 p.m.
