Titans Draw with Washington State

FULLERTON, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton Titans women's soccer team ended their non-conference slate of the schedule with a 1-1 draw against Washington State on Sunday at Titan Stadium.

The Titans head into Big West play in ten days with a 3-2-3 overall record.

The Titans were all over the Cougars in the beginning and were rewarded with an early goal in the 11th minute.  Kassandra Rios started a sequence on the defensive half of the field after playing a long ball up to Cassie Villanueva.  Villanueva got onto the the ball before the endline and set a cross that the Cougars goalkeeper hit off the post then perfectly rebounded itself across the middle of the goal to an open Sail Bozinovic for the sitter to give the Titans a 1-0 lead.

After a couple more opportunities from Fullerton the Cougars found an equalizer in the 27th minute.  Lexi Lee played a through ball to Reagan Brisendine who shot it into the far post of Allison Craycroft's goal to make it 1-1.

The Titans outshot the Cougars 9-to-4 for the first half.

In the second half, the Titans once again came out firing.  The Cougars had a couple early looks at Riley Jolls but she made one save in the 48th minute.  The Titans earned a penalty kick in the 50th minute after Sail Bozinovic was tripped inside the box, however, Ashlyn Dvorak guessed correctly on Camryn Cruz's penalty kick attempt and made the save.  Dvorak ended the game with 9 saves for the Cougars.

The Titans had a couple more good opportunities to score after the penalty from Mia LaRosa and Sail Bozinovic but they couldn't pierce Dvorak's net again.

The Titans finished with a 23-to-12 shot advantage and 10 shots on goal to the Cougars 7 shots on goal.

Allison Craycroft played the first 45 minutes in goal and made two saves.  Riley Jolls made her Titan Stadium debut in the second half and played 45 minutes making three saves.

The Titans will take the next 10 days off as they prepare for the Big West schedule to start.  The Titans host UC Riverside to close out a 4-game homestand next Wednesday, September 23rd at 6:00 p.m.
