TEMPE, Ariz. – The Titans fell 6-1 to Arizona State University for their first away game of the season on Friday.
Cal State Fullerton remains winless against ASU with an 0-8 overall all-time record.
Like last year, The Titans move to 1-1 after their second game of the season.
DOUBLES
The Titans went down early 0-1 after the doubles.
Luxizi Meng and Eira Tobrand could not do much against Sammy Hampton and Julia Fisch as they lost their match 1-6.
Caisey Lee Emery and Masako Makiba gave more work to the ASU duo of Savannah Slaysman and Samantha Alicea but ultimately dropped their doubles match 3-6.
Karla Portalatin and Sarah Nuno pairing up on Court No.1 were looking good. They were up 5-3 right before they stopped playing as ASU scored the Doubles point.
SINGLES
Off to a good start on Court No.1 and up 3-1 early, Portalatin saw her opponent win 5 games in a row and take the first set 3-6. Ilze Hattingh took the win after she dominated the second set 6-1.
ASU took a 3-0 lead for the day after Tobrand lost her singles match 2-6, 2-6.
Jadie Acidera was the only one to give the Titans some hope as she was able to win her singles match 6-1, 6-4.
Unfortunately, Acidera would be the only one to give the Titans a match point.
The Sun Devils clinched the win on Court No.2 when Sarah Nuno dropped her game 2-6, 5-7 giving ASU the fourth point needed.
Emery also conceded the loss against Savannah Slaysman: 4-6, 4-6.
Meng was the last one on the courts. After ASU Sammi Hampton won the first set, Meng won the second one. In the super tiebreaker, Hampton won 10-8.

Cal State Fullerton will take the courts again this Saturday against Grand Canyon University at 9am PT.
