FULLERTON, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton battled in the third set trying to avoid the sweep, but ultimately fell (18-25, 14-25, 23-25) to UC Davis on Friday night.
Julia Crawford led the Titans with seven kills to go along with six digs. Felicia Marshall and Maya Riddlesprigger recorded five kills each with Makenzi Abelman having 27 assists. Savahna Costello came through with a match-high 16 digs.
Cal State Fullerton (11-13, 3-10 BWC) kept it close to start the first quarter, but ultimately an 8-1 scoring run would give the Aggies control en route to a 25-18 first set win. UC Davis just overpowered the Titans with a .471 hit percentage compared to CSF's .286 percentage.
The second set was all Davis as the Titans posted a lowly .057 hit percentage falling 14-25 to go down two sets to none.
The third set was a completely different story as Fullerton held their own against Davis matching them point for point the whole set. Down the stretch, a Crawford kill would give the Titans 21-20 lead down the stretch, but the Aggies battled back to take the set 25-23 and complete the sweep.
Cal State Fullerton will play their final home match of the season tomorrow at 4:00 p.m. against UC Riverside. It will be Senior Night as the team celebrates the careers of four student-athletes who will be graduating in the spring.
