FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton women's volleyball team fell to Cal Poly in straight sets (18-25, 14-25, 11-25) on Friday night in Titan Gym. The Titans enter their final match of the season with an 8-21 overall record and a 3-14 record in conference play. 

The Mustangs opened the first set on a 5-1 run before Carissa Wiles recorded the Titans' first kill. Wiles, who led the team with nine kills, added three more in the frame, while Zariah Crosby (6 kills) and Lira Pukl Verdel (4 kills) contributed offensively. Crosby and Ketesia Hall combined at the net to close Fullerton's deficit to 16-14. But Cal Poly pieced together a 6-0 run to take the set, 25-18. 

Fullerton jumped to a 3-0 lead in the second set, as Wiles delivered her fifth kill of the night. Despite an early advantage, Cal Poly pushed back to a 10-5 lead. Hannah Hass (4 kills) found her second kill off a set from Mya Tillman (7 assists), and Pukl Verdel completed a pass from Mia Feldhaus (4 digs, 3 assists) to cut the deficit to 12-8. However, the Mustangs kept control of the frame, taking it 25-14 for a 2-0 match advantage.  

The third set remained tight early, but multiple Titan errors allowed Cal Poly to grab a 14-6 lead. Wiles, Crosby, and Pukl Verdel remained the backbone of Fullerton's offense, but could not do enough to stop the Mustangs. Cal Poly sealed the straight-set match with a 25-11 win in the third set. 

The Titans return to Titan Gym on Saturday for their season finale against UC Santa Barbara. First serve is set for 2 p.m., with a Senior Day celebration to follow the match.
