FULLERTON, Calif. – The Cal State Fullerton women's tennis team recorded its third sweep of the season as the Titans ended a three-match losing streak with a 7-0 victory over Colorado State on Monday afternoon at the Titan Tennis Courts.
Fullerton, now 4-10 on the season, won three doubles matches before notching victories in six singles contests.
Freshman Alexis Valenzuela (11-3) led the way as the West Covina, Calif., native collected her 10th straight victory with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Natalie Heffron at the top of the lineup.
Senior Morgan McIntosh (6-8) picked up a win at No. 2 in the lineup as she defeated Colorado State's Adriana Wojakowska 6-0 in the first set before Wojakowska retired for the remainder of the match.
Camille De Leon (9-5), playing at No. 3 in the lineup, edged CSU's Mollie Cooper, 6-1, 6-2.
Junior Megan Sandford improved to 3-2 on the season, surpassing Lauren Pick, 6-3, 6-7 (0-5), 10-7, at No. 4 in singles play.
Junior Kalika Slevcove (3-11) collected a win at No. 5 in the lineup over Maddie Buxton, 6-0, 6-1.
Junior Jessica Pepa (6-7) was victorious at No. 6 in the lineup with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Kwynn Ecton.
In doubles action, the team of De Leon and McIntosh (6-7) easily dispatched Heffron and Wojakowska, 8-1, at the top of the lineup.
In their first partnership of the spring, Sandford and Valenzuela recorded an 8-3 win over Cooper and Pick at No. 2 doubles.
The team of Melanie Abella and Slevcove edged Buxton and Schultz, 8-7 (7-4) at No. 3 doubles.
The Titans have two more matches this week at home, hosting Amherst at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday and Wyoming at 1:30 p.m., Thursday.
