FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton dropped its Big West Conference opener, 5-1, to 39th-ranked Long Beach State on Thursday afternoon at Titan Courts.
Freshman Emilia Borkowski was the only Titan to register a win in the singles lineup. The native of La Crescenta, Calif., was moved up to No. 4 in the lineup, and defeated Eva Rodriguez, 6-4, 7-5. Borkowski improves to 4-1 this season, after winning her three previous contests playing at No. 6.
With the win, the 49ers improve to 2-0 overall and in Big West play, while Cal State Fullerton drops to 1-4 overall and 0-1 against league competition.
The Titans return to the court on Saturday with a 1 p.m. start at Cal State Northridge.
