FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton dropped its home opener, 5-2, to San Jose State on Tuesday afternoon at the Titan Courts on the Fullerton campus.
The Titans (0-3) were led by junior Morgan McIntosh as the native of Rancho Mirage, Calif., won in both singles and doubles action. She earned her first win of the year with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Margot Charron at the No. 2 spot.
Also, freshman Emilia Borkowski, playing at No. 6 in the lineup, won her second match of the year with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Jessica Willett.
In doubles action, McIntosh partnered with sophomore Kalika Slevcove in an 8-5 win over Charron and Amber Walker.
The Titans and Spartans (1-1) also chose to play extra matches with Fullerton freshman Rebekkah Ermac earning a victory.
Cal State Fullerton returns to action on Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Titan Courts as the Titans are scheduled to host 39th-ranked Long Beach State in their Big West Conference opener.
