FULLERTON, Calif. – After tossing a complete game shutout and leading the Titans to 2-0 victory over Hawaii, Mikiah Negrete has been named Big West Pitcher of the Week. It is the first career weekly honor for Negrete.
In Friday's series opener at Hawai'i, the Titan lefty tossed all nine innings with a career-high 11 strikeouts, allowing just two hits and no runs.Â
The Oceanside, Calif. product retired the side in order in the third, sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth innings while striking out the side in the ninth to close out the game.
Negrete is 4-2 with a 2.01 ERA and 48 strikeouts in 44.2 innings of work on the mound.
Fullerton is back in action this weekend at Goodwin Field against UC Riverside beginning Friday night.
