Negrete Tosses Complete Game Shutout in Win Over Hawaii

HONOLULU – Mikiah Negrete tossed his first career complete game shutout to lead the Titans to a 2-0 victory Friday night in the series opener against Hawaii. With the win the Titans improve to 12-13 on the year and 6-4 in Big West play.

Negrete's complete game shutout is the first by a Titan since Tyler Stultz on April 14, 2023 against UC Riverside. The southpaw allowed just two hits while striking out a career-high 11 batters and not issuing a single walk.

The Titans are the first team to shutout Hawaii this season and first to do so at Les Murakami Stadium since the Titans did so on April 29, 2022.

Offensively, Fullerton did just enough. The Titans got on the board in the second inning on an RBI double by Brady Dobson to score Nick Miller from second base. Dobson put the Titans ahead 1-0 with his first career RBI.

Cameron Kim came through in a big spot in the eighth inning to give Fullerton an insurance run. With Niko Lombardi at second base, Kim delivered an RBI double to left field to put the Titans up 2-0. Kim now has a Big West leading 14 doubles on the year.

Negrete closed out in style, striking out the side to take game one of the series.

Fullerton looks to secure the series victory in game two Saturday night in Hawaii. First pitch is scheduled for 9:35 p.m. PT.
