Titans Fall in Game Two at Hawaii

HONOLULU – Cal State Fullerton dropped game two at Hawaii Saturday night by a final score of 6-2 at Les Murakami Stadium. The Titans are now 12-14 on the year and 6-5 in Big West play.

Hawaii controlled the game early, scoring three runs in the second and one in the fifth and sixth inning to take a 5-0 lead.

Fullerton was held scoreless until the eighth inning when Nick Miller doubled down the left field line to score Paul Contreras from first base. After missing Friday night's game, Contreras went 1-for-3 with a run and two walks.

After a Ty Thomas single put runners on the corners, Miller scored on a wild pitch to cut the deficit to 5-2.

Hawaii added a run in the bottom of the eighth inning to take a four-run lead, 6-2.

The Titans had their chances throughout the game, out-hitting Hawaii 12-10 but left a total of 10 runners on base.

Andrew Kirchner led the Titans with three hits, going 3-for-5 on the night. Thomas (2-for-3) and Eli Lopez (2-for-4) both added two hits for Fullerton.

The two teams will meet for the rubber game Sunday afternoon to decide the series. First pitch is at 4:05 p.m. PT.
