FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton dropped game one of the series to Xavier by a final score of 3-0 Friday night at Goodwin Field. The Titans fall to 3-6 on the year with the loss.Â
The pitching staff kept the Titans in the game, holding Xavier to just three runs even while allowing 10 hits. Fullerton pitchers stranded seven Xavier runners on base, six in scoring position.Â
Mikiah Negrete didn't have his best start of the season but battled to keep Fullerton in the game. Negrete allowed just one run on eight hits while walking one and striking out five.Â
Joseph Jasso and Brock Mayer gave up one run each in relief. Jasso pitched two-thirds of an inning while Mayer pitched two and two-thirds.Â
Fullerton's offense didn't get a hit until the sixth inning when Hunter Meyer broke up the no-hitter. The Titans finished the game with a season-low two hits while striking out 14 times.Â
The Titans look to bounce back in game two of the series Saturday evening at Goodwin Field. First pitch is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
