STANFORD, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton took game one of the series over Stanford by a final score of 4-2 Friday afternoon at Sunken Diamond. The Titans improve to 2-3 on the year with the win.

With some help from the Stanford defense, Fullerton took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Andrew Kirchner drew a one-out walk before a throwing error allowed him to reach third base. Max Ortega then hit a ball to the outfield which was dropped by the Stanford defense, putting Ortega on second base and scoring Kirchner on a sacrifice fly/error.
The Titans extended their lead in the top of the fourth inning on a two-run shot by Britton Beeson, his first Div. I home run. Beeson's home run put the Titans up 3-0.

Kirchner was on the other end of a sacrifice fly in the seventh inning to score Cade O'Hara and put the Titans up 4-1.
The Cardinal immediately responded with one run in the home half of the seventh to cut the Titans lead to 4-2. Brock Mayer kept the Titans lead intact after entering the game in relief with the bases loaded and no outs. Mayer limited the damage to just one run on a sacrifice fly.
Cameron Kim and Max Ortega connected for a key play at the plate on the first batter Mayer saw, throwing out the runner from third at home after a ground ball to third base to record the first out.
