COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Cal State Fullerton track and field team saw five athletes advance to nationals after sending a program-record 19 athletes to the four-day NCAA Division I Track and Field West First Round hosted at Texas A&M's E.B. Cushing Stadium (May 28-31).Â
Joshua Hornsby punched his ticket to nationals in the men's 110m hurdles on Friday, taking 12th place with a time of 13.58. Hornsby advanced to the quarterfinals after taking 14th place in the event's first round on Wednesday with a time of 13.61.
Carter Birade joined Hornsby in the event's first round with a time of 14.25, which was good for 41st place.
Abel Jordan was on site but did not start the race.Â
The men's 4x100 relay team, which featured
John Clifford,
Isaiah Emerson,
Dominic Gates and
Ian Dossman also punched their national ticket on Friday after running the relay in 39.26 for ninth place, which was the fourth fastest time run by a male quartet in program history.Â
Rahsaan Dozier (7.26m) and
Camren Willis (7.10m) competed in the men's long jump, taking 28th and 37th place. In the men's 100m race, Clifford ran a 10.54 for 31st place while Dossman and Gates both ran a 10.64 for 43rd and 44th place.
Donovan Garcia ran a 52.86 in the men's 400m hurdles for 44th place.Â
Hawkin Miller (35th, 17.62m) and
Brayden Bitter (44th, 16.92m) represented the Titans in the men's shot put event.
Talman Young completed the 3000m steeplechase in 9:17.30 on Friday, while
Sebastian Ikolo's measurement of 2.09m in the high jump placed him in 25th place.Â
On the women's side,
Brooklyn Davis took 43rd place in the women's 100m race with a time of 11.64.
Alyssa Heinlein came in 45th place after running the 400m Hurdles in 1:01.43.
Ashley Odiase competed in the women's 200m race, crossing the finish in 23.54 for 29th place.Â
The women's 4x100m relay team, which featured Jade Charlton,
Nancy Dematte, Odiase and Davis, crossed the finish line in 44.83 which was good for 21st place.Â
The NCAA Division I Track and Field National Championships will be hosted in Eugene, Oregon on June 11-14. The men's 4x100m relay semifinal is set for Wednesday, June 11 at 4:05 p.m., and the men's 110m hurdles semifinal will follow at 5:08 p.m.Â
