Fullerton Wraps Up Regular Season at Titan Tune-Up

The Cal State Fullerton Titans hosted the Titan Tune-Up to end the regular season and prepare for the conference championships.

FULLERTON, Calif. –  The Cal State Fullerton Track and Field team hosted the annual Titan Tune-Up on Friday. Fullerton used the home meet as final preparation for the Big West Championships next weekend.
 
The men's hammer throw athletes kicked off the Titan Tune-Up. Hawkin Miller recorded a personal-best 60.36m throw, which is now the second-best in program history. Miller finished in fifth while Hagop Marmarian rounded out the top 10 with a 51.25m throw. Brayden Bitter posted a 48.78m throw.
 
On the women's side, Jocelyn Alexander posted a personal-best throw at the 57.55m mark. Alexander's second place throw on Friday also marks the second-best in program history. Alexa Sheldon finished in fifth with a 47.65m throw while Brielle Moseley logged a 45.76m mark. Natalie Buffolino also competed and posted a 44.47m throw.
 
Moseley recorded a personal-best in the women's discus throw with a 44.43m throw. Her sixth-place mark was .02m better than her previous personal-best. Alexander and Buffolino capped the top 10 with ninth and 10th place finishes. Abigail Reichard and Kaylah McNairy finished behind Buffolino with 40.43m and 40.36m throws.  On the men's side, Judah Withey logged a 46.56m throw, finishing in ninth.
 
Caleb Mabins recorded first place finishes in both the men's long jump and triple jump. His 6.56m jump put him ahead of his teammate, Brasen Durkalec who recorded a 6.52m jump. Sydney Roquebrun competed in the women's triple jump where she logged an 11.02m, first place mark.
 
In the men's high jump, Gabriel Ikolo finished with a 1.90m mark, nabbing a first-place finish. On the women's side, Emily Johnson and Carissa Martinez both finished at the 1.52m mark, tying for first.
 
Brayden Bitter recorded a podium finish in the men's shot put, finishing in third with a 16.57m mark. Marmarian posted a personal-best 15.53m mark. Withey also competed in the men's shot put, logging a 15.29m mark. On the women's side, Sheldon posted a third place, 13.85m throw.
 
The Titans distance runners dominated in the 1500m. Matthew Kubler finished at the top of the podium with a 3:55.89 time while Nathaniel Avila was right behind him with a 4:03.19 finish. Carlos Maradiaga nabbed third with a time of 4:03.28 and Noah Chairez finished in fourth at 4:13.98. In the women's run, Grace Toriz finished in first with a time of 4:54.53 and Caitlyn Cilley logged a 5:00.40, second place finish. Cassandra Apahidean closed out the podium with a 5:02.74 finish.
 
Starla Skiles nabbed a personal-best 14.48, first place time in the women's 100m hurdles. She also recorded a first-place finish in the women's 400m hurdles with a 1:01.14 time. Nicolo Owens ran on the men's side and tallied a 53.86 first place time.
 
Maleik Pabon and Dominic Gates kept the podium finishes coming in the men's 100m dash. Pabon finished in second place with a personal best time of 10.39 and Gates finished at the 10.53 mark. Tayla Brunger represented the home team on the women's side, posting a 12.14 first place time.
 
Jaiden Hill posted a first place, personal-best time of 24.36 in the women's 200m dash. Briyanna Word came in second while Jazzmin Williams finished right behind at the 25.08 mark. On the men's side, Pabon posted a 21.01 time, finishing in second.
 
Bradley Riehl recorded a second-place finish with a time of 49.84 in the men's 400m, a personal-best.
 
In the men's 800m, Jacob Brown finished in first with a time of 1:56.60 and Avila finished right behind in second with a time of 2:02.74. On the women's side, Toriz also finished in second at the 2:22.80 mark. Lexi Cilley finished in third with a time of 2:24.72.
 
The Titans are back in action next weekend at the Big West Conference Championships at Cal State Long Beach.
