Box Score IRVINE, Calif. — Despite a match-high 12 kills from Lyla Traylor, Cal State Fullerton women's volleyball fell in straight sets (18-25, 15-25, 22-25) at UC Irvine Thursday night. The result moves the Titans to 1-23 on the season and 0-15 in Big West play.Â
Traylor had a match-high 14 digs to go with her 12 kills, hitting at a .296 clip and also recording an ace and an assist. Bianca Martinez posted seven kills on a .308 clip and three blocks, while Laura Williams contributed six kills on a .286 hitting percentage.Â
UC Irvine got out to a quick start in the match, leading 16-9 before Traylor and Campbell recorded back-to-back kills. Martinez later posted kills of her own on consecutive plays and Aubrey Beaver added a pair, but the Anteaters went on to win the game, 25-18.Â
Traylor powered home a kill and an ace to cap a 3-0 Fullerton run early in the second frame. Traylor posted three more kills in a four-play span to later bring the Titans within seven, 20-13. But UC Irvine took the set, 25-15.Â
After falling behind 20-15 in the third frame, a pair of Williams kills and consecutive Anteater errors brought Fullerton within three, 22-19. Back-to-back kills by Traylor then cut the Titans' deficit to a point, 23-22. But UC Irvine scored the next two to win the set, 25-22, and the match.Â
Fullerton returns home Saturday, Nov. 11, to host Hawaii in its final match of the regular season. First serve is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. PT.Â
