Ranson, Noble Earn Top Honors as WSOC Garner Seven All-Big West Accolades

IRVINE, Calif. - The Big West Conference announced the 2023 women's soccer yearly honors and the Titans were represented by five different players.  The Titans earned two of the big awards behind RS-Sophomore Mia Ranson being named The Big West Women's Soccer Goalkeeper of the Year and Kaylee Noble being named The Big West Freshman of the Year.  Ranson was also given First Team All-Big West honors along with three other Titans.  Kaylee Noble was named to the All-Freshman team as well.  This is the first time since 2015 where the Titans had four players named to the All-Big West First Team. The Titans have had at least one representative named to the All-Big West Freshman team for 11 straight seasons.

Mia Ranson was the sixth Titan to be named the Big West Goalkeeper of the Year.  Karen Bardsley (2004-06), Shayla Sabin (2007), Lindsey Maricic (2013), Jennifer Stuart (2015), and Morgan Bersch (2017) previously were given the top goalkeeping honor. The Oxnard native continued to build on a strong freshman season last year where was named to the All-Big West Second Team and All-Freshman team. Ranson built on three player of the week awards from last year with another three selections as Defensive Player of the Week this season.  Ranson was second in the Big West with a .952 goals against average.  She led the conference with an .838 save percentage and made 88 saves (4th most) in the conference. She was tied for the lead league with seven shutouts.   Ranson has already etched her name in the program record book in multiple categories.  With her 182 career saves, she is in fifth place.  Her 17 goalkeeper victories are tied for sixth with Noa Schumacher.  Her 13 shutouts are tied for third most in program history with Jennifer Stuart and Laura Janke.   Ranson's individual shutout streak came to an end in Thursday's game in Bakersfield after being replaced as a late sub by Hannah Griffin.  Ranson kept a scoreless streak of 472 minutes, which was good for the second best in program history.

Kaylee Noble was the third Titan ever to be named the Big West Freshman of the Year.  Karen Bardsley (2002) and Megan Day (2019) were the previous recipients of the award. Noble has appeared in all 19 games this year for the Titans and started in 9 of them.  She was tied for third with three goals and fourth with 8 points among the Titans team.  Noble is second on the team with 31 shots and tied for the most shots on goal with 17.  The freshman forward scored the first two goals of her career in the Titans win at Cal Poly on September 28th.  She also added one more goal in the Titans regular season finale at Cal State Bakersfield.  She assisted on the Titans second goal against UC Irvine and on the game-winning goal against UC Davis.  Noble was also named to the All-Big West Freshman team.

Sophomore Midfielder Isabella Cruz was given All-Big West First Team Honors.  These were the first conference honors of her career.  Cruz was second on the team with 10 points and scored three goals and led the team with 4 assists. She was a perfect 2-for-2 on penalty kicks this season against UC Santa Barbara and against UC Irvine.  She also scored on a free kick goal against Long Beach State.  Cruz was one of two Titans who started and played in all 19 games this season.

Sophomore Defender Kaylin Raibon was given All-Big West First Team honors. These were the first postseason honors of her career.  Raibon was previously named to the All-Conference Coaches Preseason Team.  Despite being a defender, Raibon actually led the Titans offense with 5 goals and 11 points. Raibon was tied for the seventh most goals in the conference.  Raibon scored against New Mexico, Southern Utah, San Diego, California, and in the regular season finale at Cal State Bakersfield.  She scored back-to-back game winning goals against San Diego and Cal and was previously named the Big West Offensive Player of the Week. A mainstay on the backline, Raibon was a part of a Titans backline that allowed just 18 goals all season. Raibon was one of two Titans who started and played in all 19 games this season.

Junior Makenna McGill was named to the All-Big West First Team for the Titans fourth member to be named to the team.  McGill was previously named to the All-Big West Preseason Coaches Team.  McGill was second on the team with four goals and third on the team with 9 points.  She scored two game winning goals against UC Davis and Long Beach State. McGill played in 17 games and started in 16 of them. She scored the first collegiate goal of her career in the game against UC Irvine where she scored the late insurance goal.  She scored once more against UC Davis and twice against Long Beach State.  She scored all four of her goals in the Titans final five games of the regular season.

The Titans finished the regular season out with their 10th Big West Regular Season Championship.  After dropping their first conference game against UC Riverside, the Titans went on a 9-game unbeaten streak and a five game winning streak to finish out conference play.  The Titans will host semifinals and finals of the 2023 Big West Championship.  The Titans earned the No. 1 seed and will take on the winner of No. 4 Long Beach State or No. 5 UC Irvine on Thursday at 7:30 PM.
