FULLERTON, Calif. — Cal State Fullerton's women's volleyball team was swept (25-19, 25-19, 25-19) Friday night at Titan Gym. With this loss the Titans overall record moves to 1-15 and 0-7 in the conference.

Bianca Martinez paced the Titans offensively with a team-high nine kills on a .238 clip and two digs. Following her was Aubrey Beaver with a near double-double, adding eight kills and 10 digs. Ameena Campbell and Laura Williams each produced seven kills a piece. Defensively, Ashley Chacon, Nadia Koanui and Beaver each had 10 digs.

The two teams started the match leveled, trading points and finding themselves tied 12-12 early. The Matadors responded with a 7-1 scoring run that gave them the largest lead of the match, 19-13.

The Titans attempted to come back in the set after a kill by Campbell sparked a 3-1 run for Fullerton. However, the deficit was ultimately too large and the Titans lost the first set, 25-19.

Once again the two teams went back and forth with CSUN taking an early lead, 7-6, to start the second set. The Matadors went on a short 3-1 run to extend their lead but the Titans didn't allow the set to run away from them. The Titans found themselves trailing late in the match 20-18. But a late 5-1 run sealed the set win for the Matadors, 25-19.

The two teams once again traded points but this time it was the Titans taking charge in the third. A service ace and a kill by Campbell gave the Titans an early lead in the third set, 9-6.

A kill by Williams and an attack error by CSUN extended the Titans lead, but the Matadors were able to close the scoring gap, eventually tying the set 14-14. From this point forward, CSUN controlled the remainder of the set, completing the match sweep with a 25-19 set win.

The Titans will return to action Saturday to host CSU Bakersfield at 4:00 p.m. PT at Titan Gym.
