HONOLULU, Hawai'i – Cal State Fullerton women's tennis finished a tight 4-3 win over Pacific University on Thursday.
Singles play proved to be a battle as the Titans won the No. 1, 3, and 6 courts.
Genevieve Zeidan lived up to her Big West Player of the Week accolade by securing a 7-5, 6-2 win over Maayan Sela. Zeidan now boasts a 14-1 record in dual play for the season.
Karla Portalatin would also get her fancy finish to extend to her now 13 match win streak. Portalatin defeated Anna Ramos Vinolas 6-4, 6-1.
Masako Makiba held down court number six and defeated Yuki Asami 7-5, 6-4.
Fullerton would, unfortunately, lose the No. 2, 4, and 5 courts to Pacific.
Dohee Lee defeated Sarah Nuno on court number two, 1-6, 6-2, 6-4. Ioana Popescu took on Luxizi Meng for three sets before defeating Meng 4-2, 6-2, 10-6. Caisey Lee Emery also took a loss on court number five to Anneroos Nederstig. Nederstig defeated Emery 3-6, 6-3, 6-3.
Match point would be determined by doubles point.
At doubles court number one, Nuno and Portalatin would defeat Maayan Sela / Dohee Lee 6-1. The point was Fullerton's once the duo of Caisey Lee Emery and Danielle Pham defeated Yuki Asami / Anna Ramos Vinolas 6-3.
The Titans would lose court number two to Pacific when Zeidan/Makiba faced off against Anneroos Nederstigt / Ioana Popescu.
Fullerton looks to get back into action Saturday as they face fellow conference member Hawai'i at 2 p.m. PT.
