LONG BEACH, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton Titans women's tennis lost their first conference game of the season after falling to No. 67 Long Beach State 4-3 on the road on Saturday at the Rhodes Tennis Center
The Titans fell to 12-5 overall for the season and 5-1 in Big West play. Â
The Titans started the match ahead after winning the doubles point. Â
Milena Gevorgyan and
Madison Schwarz won on Court 3, 6-3 while the No. 2 pairing of
Dana Kunza and
Martina Markov clinched the point with a 6-4 win on Court 2.
In singles play, the Beach blitzed the Titans to start with the Beach winning all six of the first sets. Â The Beach then went ahead 3-1 after winning on Court 1, Court 5, and Court 3. Â
Dana Kunza put up a fight on Court 6 but the Beach clinched the match with a 7-5, 7-5 win on Court 6 for their fourth point.
Emilie Lugon-Moulin earned the Titans second point of the day after winning a three set match on Court 2, 1-6, 6-2, 6-4. Â
Seha Yu salvaged the final point for the Titans on Court 4. Â After dropping the first set 6-1, Yu came back and won the second set 7-6 (7-5) on the tiebreak and won the third set 10-point tiebreaker (10-5).
The Titans will remain at home over their three games. Â They are idle next week before returning to action against Cal Poly and UC Santa Barbara the following weekend.
