FULLERTON, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton Titans women's tennis team dropped a close 4-3 game to the visiting No. 60 Dartmouth Big Green on Tuesday afternoon at home at the Titan Courts.
The Titans fell to 12-4 overall for the season. Â
The Titans were missing their normal No. 2 doubles player and No. 4 singles player in
Seha Yu but the rest of the roster did their best to make up for Yu's absence. In doubles, the No. 3 pairing of
Milena Gevorgyan and
Madison Schwarz dominated on Court and won 6-0. The Big Green won on Court 1 setting up a winner take all on Court 2. The Titans pairing of
Martina Markov and
Dana Kunza were up 5-4 but couldn't close it out and eventually the game went to a tiebreak at 6-6. The Titans started the tiebreak up 3-0 but eventually the Big Green doubles pairing of Josephine Lombardi and Elise Wong won the tiebreak 8-6 and took the match and the doubles point 7-6 to give them a 1-0 point heading into singles.Â
In singles play, the Big Green went ahead 3-0 after a win by retirement on Court 5 and a straight set win on Court 4.Â
Amelia Zylberman earned the first point back for the Titans in Court 3. She won the first set 6-4 and went through a marathon tiebreak in the second set but eventually the won set, 7-6 (12-10). Â
Dana Kunza came back and won a three set battle 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 on Court 6. The Big Green clinched the match on Court 2 as Michela Moore defeated Emile Lugon-Moulin in three sets 4-6, 6-2, 6-1.  The Titans played out the final match on Court 1 as
Martina Markov battled back from being down 6-4, 5-2.  She came back and won four straight games to go ahead 6-5 in the second set before eventually winning the second set tiebreak 11-9.  In the final 10-point tiebreak in set 3, Markov prevailed 10-8 to earn herself an individual win. Â
The Titans who are now in the toughest part of their schedule head to Long Beach State on Saturday for their final road game of the season. Â First serve is set for 11:00 a.m. at the Rhodes Tennis Center.
