FULLERTON, Calif. – After playing for 110 mins, Cal State Fullerton (9-3-3, 2-1-1) and UC Davis (4-9-1, 3-0-1) forced a 1-1 draw in a double overtime bout on Sunday afternoon.
Fullerton took the advantage early as Kaycee Hoover got the ball into the back of the net for her third goal of the season in the 37th minute. Hoover received the ball from Nano Oronoz which was set up off of Atlanta Primus' corner kick.
In the 73rd minute Morgan Bertsch came up with a huge save for the Titans off the penalty kick taken by Mandy McKeegan that grazed the fingertips of Bertsch. Bertsch comes off being Defensive Player of the Week accolade (10/09).
During the 73rd minute, Jessica Simonian would receive a red card marking her out for the match and leaving the Titans with 10 players for the remainder of the match. Fullerton played one woman down for 37 minutes.
The Aggies answered back quickly after the PK, where Mahlah Catline scored the equalizer in the 77th minute. Catline received the ball off of McKeegan's corner to make it 1-1.
After going through two overtime halves the teams were both unable to capitalize and ended the match 1-1.
Fullerton outperformed Davis offensively outshooting 18-12. Once again, the Titans out cornered their opponent 13-5.
The Titans look forward to playing Cal Poly at Alex G. Spanos Stadium on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. PT.
