FULLERTON, Calif.  – Cal State Fullerton extended its winning streak to eight matches with a 5-1 victory over Utah State on Monday afternoon at Titan Tennis Courts.

The Titans (10-1) and Aggies (4-7) chose to only play singles matches due to the wet weather in Fullerton.

Fullerton's 10-1 start to the season and eight-match win streak are both program records for the Titans.

Junior co-captain Alex Valenzuela improved to 9-2 at the top of the lineup with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Ekaterina Tugarinova.

At No. 3 singles, junior co-captain Camille De Leon extended her win streak to four edging Maggie O'Meara, 6-3, 6-2.

Freshman Karla Portalatin battled Sabrina Demerath at No. 4 singles to earn a three-set victory, 6-4, 3-6, 6-2, as the native of Santa Domingo, Dominican Republic, is now 8-3 on the year.

Fellow rookie Masako Makiba played at No. 5 in the order and also needed three sets to pick up a come-from-behind win over Monika Van de Vondel, 3-6, 7-6 (6-0), 10-4

Sophomore Danielle Pham (7-3) defeated Meghan Lyall 6-0, 2-6, 6-2 in three sets.

The Titans return to action at Nevada on Friday and will be back at Titan Tennis Courts on Tuesday, March 15, to host Colorado State.
