Valenzuela Falls in Round of 32

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – After experiencing opening round success on day one, the Cal State Fullerton women's tennis team failed to advance in both singles and doubles action at the ITA Southwest Regionals on Friday.

 

Sophomore Alexis Valenzuela, the only Titan still playing in the singles winner's bracket, suffered a 6-3, 6-1 loss to the tournament's No. 3 seed, UCLA's Kyle McPhillips.

 

In the winner's bracket on the doubles side, USC's Guliana Olmos and Gabby Smith eliminated the team of Valenzuela and freshman Danielle Pham, 8-4, in the round of 32.

 

Also in the round of 32, San Diego's Drew Spinosa and Marta Stojanovic defeated the team of Emilia Borkowski and Camille De Leon, 8-3.

The Titans will continue play at the ITA Southwest Regionals on Saturday.
