LOS ANGELES – Cal State Fullerton fell to No. 18 USC Tuesday night at Dedeaux Field by a final score of 13-4. With the loss the Titans drop to 21-26 on the year. 

Paul Contreras gave the Titans an early lead on a solo home run in the top of the first inning for his 11th of the season. Contreras went 2-for-3 with a run, an RBI and two walks. 

USC countered with four runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a 4-1 lead. 

The Titans took advantage of a USC throwing error in the second to cut the deficit to 4-2. Max Ortega led-off the inning with a walk before a base hit from Hunter Meyer put a runner in scoring position. After advancing to third on a fly-out, Ortega scored on a ball put in play by Logan Hart that USC attempted to throw home on. 

USC once again answered with four runs in the home half in the inning to extend its lead to 8-2. 

Cameron Kim led-off the third inning with a solo home run to left field, his fourth of the year, to cut the deficit to 8-3. Kim went 3-for-4 with a run, an RBI and a walk. 

The freshman duo of Esteban Olazaba and Meyer strung together a pair of doubles to make it an 8-4 game. 

USC responded with two runs of its own in the bottom of the third to retake a six-run lead, 10-4. The Trojans added two more runs in the fourth to take a 12-4 lead. USC extended its lead to 13-4 in the fifth inning.

Fullerton is back at Goodwin Field this weekend for a three-game Big West series against Cal Poly beginning Friday night.
