FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton baseball and interim head coach Cory Vanderhook announced the addition of former Titan standout Koby Gauna to the coaching staff as the program's director of pitching development and bullpen coach.

"We're excited to welcome Koby back to Cal State Fullerton and have him join our coaching staff," Vanderhook said. "Koby was a tremendous competitor during his time as a Titan, and he brings a wealth of experience from his time playing at Fullerton and professionally. He understands what it means to wear the Titan uniform and the standard we expect from our pitching staff. His experience, knowledge and passion for the program will make him a great resource for our pitchers, and we're excited to have him join the staff."

Gauna returns to Fullerton after a standout three-year career with the Titans from 2012-14. A versatile member of the pitching staff, he made 68 appearances with 17 starts during his career, posting a 14-7 record with a 2.35 ERA, 14 saves and 118 strikeouts across 181 2/3 innings.

As a junior in 2014, Gauna led the Titans with 27 appearances and posted a 5-3 record with a 1.64 ERA, tied for the fourth-best single-season mark in program history. He added five saves while striking out 54 batters and issuing just eight walks in 60 1/3 innings. As a freshman in 2012, Gauna earned Freshman All-American honors from Collegiate Baseball.

Gauna was selected by the Oakland Athletics in the 20th round (612th overall) in the 2014 MLB Draft.
