Contreras Earns Big West Field Player of the Year as Six Titans Receive Honors

FULLERTON, Calif. – Following the 2026 season six Titans earned All-Big West accolades headlined by Paul Contreras being named Co-Big West Field Player of the Year, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon. 

After leading the team with a .364 batting average, 40 runs, 42 RBI and 14 home runs, Contreras earned First Team All-Big West and Co-Fielder Player of the Year. Contreras is the first Titan to earn the honor since Dalton Blaser in 2016. In conference play, the junior is hitting .436 with a .512 on-base, .802 slugging and 1.314 OPS, all of which lead The Big West Conference.

Nick Miller earned First Team All-Big West after starting 51 out of 53 games this season in left field and second base. Miller has been a key part of the Titans lineup this season. The senior is second on the team with a .321 batting average while adding 35 runs and 25 RBI. In conference play, Miller has upped his batting average to .360 with a .438 on-base percentage.

Friday night ace, Mikiah Negrete, was named First Team All-Big West after leading the Titans on the mound with a 8-4 record and 2.87 ERA. The southpaw has walked just 17 batters in 91 innings pitched, fifth fewest in the conference. Negrete's 91 innings pitched leads The Big West and is the fourth most in the country. 

The senior had a career night against Hawaii, throwing a complete game shutout while striking out a career-high 11 batters. Negrete was named Big West Pitcher of the Week and Perfect Game National Pitcher of the Week. Two weeks later Negrete threw another complete game, this time at No. 6 Oregon State and allowed just one unearned run. He was once again Named Big West Pitcher of the Week for his performance.

Andrew Wright earned Second Team All-Conference after recording five saves and a 3.41 ERA in 34.1 innings pitched. The junior had a bounce back weekend at UC Santa Barbara, pitching 4.2 shutout innings in two appearances, allowing a total of three hits while striking out four batters. After throwing a career-high 69 pitches in game two against UC San Diego, Wright came out to close out game three with a runner on and out. Wright recorded two quick outs to seal the victory and send Fullerton to The Big West Championship.

Cameron Kim and freshman Bobby Mahoney earned Big West Honorable Mention. Kim hit .294 in his first year with the Titans while adding 31 runs, 29 RBI and 20 doubles. In the final three games of the season with the Titans needing a win, Kim stepped up. The junior hit .538 (7-for-13) with three runs, five RBI and three extra base hits which included a double, triple and a home run.

As a freshman, Mahoney found himself as the Titans Saturday starter for a majority of the season. Mahoney finished the year with a 2-3 record and 4.58 ERA in 57 innings pitched. In his appearances against UCI and CSUN, Mahoney allowed just one hit in eight innings pitched while striking out 10 batters and walking just three. Mahoney pitched a career-high seven innings while striking out a career-high seven batters in his start against UC Riverside on April 3.

The Titans face No. 4 seed Hawaii Wednesday night at Cicerone Field on the campus of UC Irvine in game one of the Big West Championship. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
