Azusa, Calif. – The Fullerton Titans distance runners competed at the Bryan Clay Invitational on Friday and Saturday. Multiple Titans recorded personal bests while racing in the 800m, 1500m and 500m events.
Six of the seven athletes that competed in the 800m events recorded a personal best on Friday.
Diego Mejia and
Kofi Rossi ran for the men and finished at the 1:50.92 and 1:52.93 marks. On the women's side,
Kalei Aoki-Chance,
Natalyn Membreno, and
Fiona Holloway all finished with personal bests in the top 50 of 134 athletes.
The Titans then raced in the 5000m events where
Bella Smith,
Caitlyn Cilley,
Makena Oliva and
Matthew Kubler also posted new personal bests. Smith had the highest finish for the Titans on the women's side with her 16
th place, 16:35.95 mark.
Grace Toriz and
Shandy Moore competed alongside Cilley and Oliva, all finishing in the top 50. Kubler recorded a 14:52.68 finish in the men's run.
Nathaniel Avila,
Andrew Quast,
Justin Singer and
Carlos Maradiaga also ran for the Titans.
Fullerton ended the Bryan Clay Invitational in the 1500m events.
Barbora Svobodova led the women with a fifth-place finish, clocking a 4:28.71 time. Her performance on Saturday recorded a new personal best.
Fiona Holloway finished at the 4:35.54 mark, also recording a personal best. Smith, Chance, Membreno and
Cassandra Apahidean also ran for the Titans.
On the men's side,
Jacob Brown,
Noah Chairez,
JT McCoy,
Luke Hitchcock and
Dylan Jubak ran for the Titans and all posted personal bests. Hitchcock recorded the highest placement, finishing in 17th with a time of 3:41.37.
The Titans are back in action on Friday, May 1 at the Steve Scott Invite.
