Titans Cruise to 13-0 Run-Rule Win Over San Diego

FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton run-ruled San Diego 13-0 in seven innings Tuesday night at Goodwin Field. The Titans improve to 18-17 on the year with the win.

The Titans jumped all over San Diego early, scoring one run in the first inning on a solo home run by Cameron Kim, his second of the season.

Fullerton tied its season-high for most runs in a single inning, scoring seven in the second to take a commanding 8-0 lead.

After a leadoff hit by pitch put Andrew Kirchner on base, Bren Wilkinson crushed a double to right center field to bring home Kirchner from first base. Hunter Meyer followed with a RBI double to deep center field to score Wilkinson and give the Titans a 3-0 lead.

Max Ortega joined the party with an RBI single to bring home Meyer and extend the lead to 4-0. Nick Miller kept the scoring going with a single of his own to score Ortega from second and push the lead to 5-0

Following a Paul Contreras walk, Kim picked up his second RBI of the game in as many at-bats to drive in Miller and push the lead to 6-0. Kim went 2-for-3 on the day with three runs, two RBI and a walk. Wilkinson closed out the inning with a two-run double to right field to extend the lead to 8-0.

Fullerton tacked on two more runs in the third inning on an RBI double by Miller and a productive infield out by Contreras that brought home Miller to take a 10-0 lead.

The Titans took an 11-0 lead in the fourth inning on a bases-loaded walk drawn by Meyer.

In the fifth inning it was once again Wilkinson getting the Titans on the board, this time with a two-run single up the middle of the infield. The senior catcher had a career day at the plate, going 4-for-4 with a run and a career-high five RBI.

Nick Santivanez had another great midweek start for the Titans. Pitching three no-hit innings while facing the minimum in all three innings. Santivanez earned the win to improve to 2-0 on the year.

The Titans pitching staff of Santivanez, Dylan Goff, Masen Swan, Dylan Nieto and Ryan Seo allowed just one hit, one walk and one hit by pitch to face just three base runners all game.

Fullerton is back in action this weekend with a three-game nonconference series at No. 6 Oregon State beginning Friday night.
