Solomon Gater and
Emily Johnson competed in the decathlon and heptathlon at the Bryan Clay Multis on Thursday and Friday. Tubbs recorded 6,327 points for a fifth-place finish in the decathlon while Gater logged 4,999 points. Johnson did not finish the heptathlon.
Dominic Tubbs and
Solomon Gater represented Fullerton in the men's decathlon. Tubbs began the day with a 12.16 finish in the 100m dash and followed up with a 6.20m long jump. He recorded his highest placement of the day with a fourth place, 11.89m mark in the shot put. Tubbs logged a 1.74m high jump and a sixth place 53.43 time in the 400 at the end of the first day of the meet. Tubbs closed out the event with third place finishes in the pole vault (4.00m) and javelin throw (48.88m). Tubbs tallied 6,327 points, finishing in fifth of 11.
Gater started the day with a top 10 finish in the 100m dash with an 11.47 time. He then recorded a 5.53m long jump. He finished two placements behind Tubbs in the shot put with an 11.06m mark. Gater posted a 1.77m high jump and 51. 41 in the 400m to close out day one of the Bryan Clay Multis. He finished out the decathlon with a 32.37m javelin throw, recording a total of 4,999 points.
Emily Johnson was the only female Titan to compete in the women's heptathlon at the Bryan Clay Multis. Johnson started the meet with a 16.34, 12
th place finish in the 100m hurdles and then recorded a silver finish in the high jump with a 1.62m mark. The senior from Santa Rosa logged a 9.94m shot put as she approached the halfway mark of the heptathlon. In the 200m event, Johnson logged a 26.74 finish, wrapping up day one. Johnson did not end up competing in the final event of the meet, leading to Johnson not placing.
The Titans are back in Azusa next weekend for the Bryan Clay Invite on April 17
th and 18
th.
