Los Angeles, Calif. – The Cal State Fullerton Titans competed in the Bob Larsen Distance Carnival and UCLA Legends Meet on Friday and Saturday. The Titans tallied six medals over the two days spent at UCLA while personal bests were set in what seemed like every event.
Eight of 12 Titans who competed in the 1500m events recorded a personal best. All six of the women recorded personal bests, along with
Noah Chairez and
Dylan Jubak on the men's side.
Natalyn Membreno led the women in seventh place with her time of 4:25.27. Isabella Smith rounded out the top 10, finishing in 10
th while
Ashlynn Viramontes,
Makena Oliva,
Fiona Holloway and
Barbora Svobodova also represented the Titans. On the men's side, Jubak led with a top 25 finish with a time of 3:52.26.
The Titans continued to nab personal bests as
Shandy Moore,
Caitlyn Cilley and
Natalie Maahs each recorded a personal best in the women's 5,000m. Maahs finished in sixth with a time of 17:38.34. Moore placed ninth while Cilley followed at the 18:08.19 mark.
Nathaniel Avila and
Andrew Quast competed in the men's event. Avila finished on the podium with a third-place time of 14:35.01 and Quast finished just two spots behind, with a 14:35.96 mark.
Samuel Berhane recorded a 9:39.24 seventh place finish to close out the track side of the Bob Larsen Distance Carnival on Friday evening.
On the field,
Alex Sheldon and
Natalie Buffolino nabbed personal bests in the women's hammer throw event. Sheldon logged a 48.31m throw while Buffolino posted a 44.76m throw.
Jocelyn Alexander also competed in the event, throwing a 37.29m mark. On the men's side,
Hawkin Miller led Fullerton with an eighth place, 56.04m throw, finishing in eighth.
Hagop Marmarian placed 10
th with his 54.45m mark and
Brayden Bitter posted a 47.53m throw.
Mayalee Osola and
Dominic Tubbs represented the Titans in the javelin throw events. Osola logged a 30.32m throw while Tubbs recorded a personal-best 52.54m seventh place finish.
The Titans opened up the UCLA Legends Meet on Saturday with a gold medal in the women's 400m.
Nancy Dematte nabbed a first place, 53.22 new personal best mark.
Arionn Livingston finished in fourth while
Brooklyn Harris also competed and recorded a 55.89 personal best. On the men's side,
Rider Cooper finished on the podium with a third place, 46.62 personal best, beating his previous best by .01 seconds.
Fernando Valenzuela and
Devin Bragg also nabbed personal bests in the 400m.
Alyssa Heinlein represented Fullerton on the podium in the women's 400 hurdles with a 59.40 third place finish.
Mia Walker came in seventh with a time of 1:01.23. Bradley Riehl was the only Titan to compete on the men's side, finishing with a time of 54.11.
Membreno ran a 2:07.81 800m, putting her in second place of the women's event. Viramontes placed in the top ten with a 2:10.48 mark.
Diego Mejia led CSF on the men's side with a 1:52.79 finish, just one second short of beating his personal best.
Jaiden Hill and
Jazzmin Williams ran in the women's 200m, finishing at the 24.89 and 24.99 marks.
Fullerton closed out the running events with the 4x400m relays. The men finished in ninth when
Kofi Rossi, Bragg, Mejia, and Tubbs put together a time of 3:17.27. Heinlein, Livingston, Turner, Dematte and Harris put together a BLANK finish for the women's team.
On the field, Miller tallied another podium finish with his second place, 18.35m shot put. Bitter finished in fifth with a 17.43m mark and 14.70m mark for Marmarian. In the women's event, Sheldon finished in seventh with a 13.87m mark and
Kaylah McNairy posted a 12.38m shot put, falling just short of the top 10.
McNairy also competed in the women's discus throw, where she logged a 35.50m throw.
Abigail Reichard was the other Titan to compete in the women's event with a 37.11m throw.
Keith Orona recorded a personal best on the men's side with a 44.35m throw, beating out his previous 42.40m mark.
Gabriel Ikolo and
Caleb Mabins represented the Titans in the men's triple jump, finishing in 12
th and 13
th. Ikolo also competed in the men's high jump where she posted a new personal best with a 1.95m mark.
The Titans are back in action next weekend Apr. 9-10, when the team will split up between the Texas Relays, Bobcat Invitational and Stanford Invitational.
