STANFORD, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton dropped the series finale to Stanford Sunday afternoon by a final score of 3-2 to split the four-game road series two games apiece. With the loss the Titans drop to 3-5 on the year.Â
Fullerton let the game slip away late, holding a 2-0 lead with Bobby Mahoney pitching a no-hitter into the sixth inning. Stanford broke up the no-hitter in the sixth and went on to score two runs on a bases loaded walk and a passed ball.Â
Mahoney pitched 5.2 innings, allowing just one hit and two earned runs while walking two batters and striking out two.Â
The Titans out-hit Stanford 10-4 in the loss but left a total of seven runners on base. Fullerton scored both of its runs on wild pitches, Cameron Kim crossing home plate both times.Â
Fullerton's pitching staff held its own against a talented Stanford lineup, finishing the four-game weekend with a 2.88 ERA while holding Stanford's bats to a .183 average.Â
After splitting the four-game series with Stanford, the Titans return home to Goodwin Field for a three-game series against Xavier beginning Friday night at 6:30 p.m.
