Jone's Second 20/20 Game Leads Titans Over Roadrunners

FULLERTON, Calif. - After having a historic game against Cal State Bakersfield two weeks ago, Cristina Jones followed up with an impressive sequel in the Titans 60-57 win over Cal State Bakersfield at home on Saturday at the Titan Gym.

Jones had (35 points, 20 rebounds) on February 7th, 2026 at Bakersfield.  In Saturday's game against the Roadrunners, Jones had 21 points along with 21 rebounds.  Jones now has two of the six 20/20 games in program history.  A feat that took nearly 26 years to happen again, took just 14 days for Jones.

The Titans shot 37.7% from the floor and out rebounded the Roadrunners 47 to 39.  The Titans won despite shooting just 45.8% (11-for-24) from the free throw line.  The Titans forced 20 turnovers and had 10 steals for the game.  The first game between these two sides had 67 combined fouls along with seven players fouling out.  Saturday's game had a combined 50 fouls with three people fouling out.  However, six people were on the edge with four fouls for the game. 

Cristina Jones led the Titans and all scorers with 21 points along with 21 rebounds.  Nicole Steiner had 12 points after making her first start in 11 games.  

It was a slow start for the Titans as they fell behind early against Cal State Bakersfield.  The Roadrunners led 25-14 after the first quarter.

The Titans got to work early in the second quarter after going on a 9-1 run to cut the lead from 25-14 to 26-23 midway through the second quarter.



After making it a one possession game, the Roadrunners went on a 8-0 run to retake a 34-23 lead over the Titans.  Nicole Steiner finished off an and 1 play and Maxine Sutisna made a basket to cut the lead to 8 heading into halftime down 36-28.



The Titans played their best basketball in the third quarter after outscoring Cal State Bakersfield 16-to-6.  The Titans went on a 8-2 run to start the quarter behind a Steiner 3-point play, Jones layup, and Dylan Swindle trey.



The Titans regained the lead midway through the third quarter after going on a 8-2 scoring run over the final seven minutes of the period.



It was back and forth to start the fourth quarter as both sides traded baskets.  The Roadrunners went ahead 49-48 after heading to the free throw line twice midway through the quarter.

Midway through the fifth quarter both sides traded the lead or tied the score up.



The Roadrunners tied the game at 56-56 with 2:11 left on a Morgan Hawkins three pointer.  Cristina Jones went 1-for-2 from the line then Maria Dias went 1-for-2 from the line to make it a 57-57 game.  The Titans were fouled over their next two possessions as Cristina Jones hit the go ahead pair of free throws to make it 59-57.  The Titans defense held on strong against the Roadrunners and Maddy Tauro iced the game going 1-for-2 from the line to make it a 60-57 game.

The Titans are idle on Thursday before heading to the islands to face a surging University of Hawai'i side on Saturday. The Titans have a 1.5 game lead over the Rainbow Wahine as the sides sit in fourth and fifth place.  The Rainbow Wahine will host UC Davis on Thursdayb before hosting the Titans on Saturday night.
