FULLERTON, Calif.  - The Cal State Fullerton Titans women's basketball team 7-game winning stream was snapped on Saturday at home against UC Irvine in a 77-71 loss at Titan Gym.

The Titans (15-10, 11-4 BWC) were on their best winning streak since an 8-game winning streak during the 1990-1991 season.  

After losing by 13 points in their first match up in early January, the Titans hung tough with the Anteaters for most of the game.  The Titans were led in scoring Cristina Jones (15 pts, 13 rebs) Kya Pearson (15 points), and Dylan Swindle (12 points).  The Titans shot 39.3% from the floor and shot a decent 32% (8-for-25) from beyond the arc.  They out rebounded the Anteaters 42-to-28 for the game.  However, the Titans defense failed to generate many turnovers or steals against the Anteaters.  Hunter Hernandez and Jade Waynn combined for 53 points against the Titans as they made a combined 9 of their 11 three pointers.  The Anteaters shot 50% against the Titans.  

The Titans led early in the first quarter and led by seven (18-11) at the 4:12 mark in the first quarter . The Titans hung onto a 25-24 lead over the Anteaters after the first quarter.

The Titans kept their lead over the Anteaters in the early minutes of the second quarter before the Anteaters got back-to-back three pointers from Hunter Hernandez to cut the lead to one point.  The Anteaters took the lead with 2:39 left in the second and led 43-41 heading into halftime.

The Anteaters outscored the Titans 19-to-11 in the third quarter as they led by 10 points (62-52) heading into the final frame.

The Titans outscored the Anteaters 19-to-15 in the fourth quarter.  UCI led by 14 points (75-61) with 2:58 left in the game.  The Titans then went on a 8-0 run behind two three pointers from Kya Pearson and Jana Falsdottir to make it a 75-69 game with 23 seconds left.  However, the Titans ran out of time to complete the comeback as UCI escaped with a 6-point win over the Titans.

The Titans head to UC Davis on Thursday as they jostle for their seeding at next month's Big West Championship.  Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m. in Davis.
