FULLERTON, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton Titans kept their unbeaten conference record going after defeating UC Santa Barbara 5-0 at home on Saturday night at Titan Stadium.
The Titans improved to 6-2-5 overall for the season and 3-0-2 in conference play. The Titans and Gauchos were in a three way tie with Utah Valley at top of the Big West standings heading into the match. The Wolverines defeated Cal Poly on the road to stay with the Titans with 11 points.Â
For the Titans, this was their biggest win in conference play since a 6-1 win over UC Irvine on October 20th, 2002.  This was the also the team's largest margin of victory over UC Santa Barbara in program history.
After a steady 20 minutes between both sides, the Titans found the breakthrough goal in the 20th minute.Â
Cassie Villanueva took a ball right from the right side of the field and dribbled it into the box. She muscled off a Gauchos defender and shot the ball that deflected off the goalkeeper to a wide open
Sail Bozinovic for the game's first goal.Â
The Titans led 1-0 heading into halftime before a four goal offensive explosion in the second half.
It took the Titans only a few minutes to score the first goal of the second half.Â
Camryn Cruz crossed a ball into the box that bounced off of
Mia LaRosa back to a wide open
Sasha Amezcua. Amezcua rifled a shot into the top corner to put the Titans up 2-0.
Riley O'Brien made it 3-0 in the 61st minute after scoring her first career goal. She intercepted a pass from the defense and drilled a shot from distance past the keeper.
The Titans added a fourth goal in the 81st minute behind another first time goal scorer as
Ionare Ve'e scored her first career goal.Â
Kaylin Raibon sent a long ball that bounced into the box. The UCSB goalkeeper collided with her centerback which left Ve'e an empty net to shoot the ball into to make it 4-0.
The Titans added a fifth and final goal in the 86th minute. After some clever combination play from
Sail Bozinovic and
Caroline Hicks, Bozinovic dribbled down the right side into the box. She sent a ball across the middle to
Jaidyn Williams who scored on a cheeky backheel past her defender into the net.
Allison Craycroft continued her strong play in goal, making eight saves for the game. It was her fifth shutout of the season.
The Titans are on the road next week for two games against Long Beach State and Sacramento State.  The Titans head to Long Beach State on Wednesday.  Kick-off is set for 6:00 p.m. at George Allen Field.
