LONG BEACH, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton Titans women's soccer team overcame a 1-0 deficit at halftime to earn a 2-1 comeback win on the road against Long Beach State at George Allen Field on Wednesday night.Â
The Titans improved to 7-2-5 overall for the season and remained tied with Utah Valley for first place in the Big West Standings with a 4-0-2 record and 14 points. Â
The Beach dominated the first half over the Titans, outshooting them 9-to-1. Â Ameera White gave the Beach the lead after a freekick on top of the box in the 38th minute.
However, The Titans flipped the script in the second half. Â
Jenna Rivera almost netted the equalizer early in the second half on a shot that clanged off the crossbar down but not fully across the goalline. Â However, the Titans found the equalizer in the 63rd minute as
Kaylin Raibon sent a ball up the field to
Camryn Cruz. Â Cruz dribbled into the box and sent a cross to
Jenna Rivera who buried it past the keeper for her first career goal.
The Titans continued to press for the winner and
Jaidyn Williams forced a handball from Beach defender for a freekick outside the box on the left side. Â
Riley O'Brien's ball found
Skye Johnson for what ended up being the game winning goal to put the Titans ahead 2-1.
The Titans were able to see out the final 15 minutes to secure their first road win of the year and their fourth straight win over Long Beach State. The Titans outshot the Beach 7-to-6 in the second half.
Allison Craycroft picked up her first road win and made five saves for the match.
