Titans Go the Extra Mile in Seattle

Titans distance runners raced in the UW Invite and Mile City on Friday and Saturday.

Seattle, Wash. – The Titans sent a group of distance runners to compete at the UW Invite and Mile City on the campus of University of Washington on Friday and Saturday.
 
Titans newcomer, Solomon Gater, competed in the men's 60m hurdles, logging a 9.24 time. Gater was the only Fullerton athlete to compete in any hurdle events at the UW Invite.
 
Bella Smith and Makena Oliva represented the Titans in the women's 3000 run. Smith ran a 9:39.88 time, recording a new personal best. Oliva ran alongside Smith for her first ever 3000m run and recorded a 10:21.05 mark. In the men's event, Nathaniel Avila logged a personal-best 8:26.84, finishing in 28th of 54. Noah Chairez raced with Avila and ran an 8:35.65 time.
 
Isaiah Emerson finished out day one in Washington, racing in the men's 400 dash. Emerson was three tenth's short of a new personal-best with his 48.36 mark, finishing in eighth.
 
On Saturday, the Titans competed in Mile City in beautiful Seattle, Washington. Fiona Holloway, Oliva and Smith each represented Fullerton in the women's mile run. Smith ran a new personal-best time of 4:51.55 and finished in 21st of 256 athletes. Oliva and Holloway rounded out the top 100, finishing in 96th and 97th. Oliva ran a 5:02.83 and Holloway right behind, at 5:02.96.
 
On the men's side of the mile run, JT McCoy, Avila and Chairez ran for the Titans. All three Titans placed in the top 100 of 332 athletes. Chairez ran a 4:05.62 mark, finishing in 22nd while McCoy was in 31st at the 4:07.71 mark. Avila ran a 4:16.55 time, finishing in 97th.
 
The Titans are back in action next weekend at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic.
