LONG BEACH, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton Titans women's basketball team defeated Long Beach State 84-66 on the road on Thursday night at the Walter Pyramid.

After a hot start to the game from the Beach, it was all Titans the rest of the way from the second quarter.  The Titans took the lead after a Kya Pearson layup with 7:15 left in the second quarter and didn't relinquish the lead the rest of the way.

The Titans fell behind in the first quarter after Long Beach shot 71.4% from the floor including making four three-pointers.  Kya Pearson and Cristina Jones kept the Titans within range as they scored all 17 points in the first quarter.

The Titans turned up the pressure in the second quarter as they dominated the Beach, outscoring them 31-to-14.   The Titans forced 12 turnovers and had 6 steals in the second quarter.

The Titans quickly erased the 7-point deficit to start the second quarter after going on a 12-0 run over the first four minutes of the period.

The Titans stretched their lead to seven points at 38-31 before the Beach got within 2 points at 38-36 with 1:30 left. However, the Titans defense forced multiple turnovers in the Beach back court to turn that into a 10-point lead (48-38) heading into halftime.

The Titans outscored the Beach 25-to-18 in the third quarter.  The Beach closed the gap to seven points a couple times early in the quarter but the Titans responded back each time to keep the lead hovering around double-digits.

The Titans stretched the lead up to 17 points (73-56) heading into the final frame.

The Titans didn't let up in the final quarter as they outscored Long Beach 11-to-10.  The Beach cut the lead to 11 points (73-62) before the Titans went on a 11-3 run over the final five minutes against the Beach.

The Titans will host Cal Poly on Saturday afternoon.  Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m. at Titan Gym.  The Titans beat Cal Poly on the road to open Big West Play (96-64) on December 4th.
