FULLERTON, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton Titans women's basketball team defeated UC Riverside 83-71 on Saturday afternoon at Titan Gym.
The Titans improved to 9-9 overall and 5-3 in conference play.
The Titans had their best shooting game from beyond the arc going 10-for-18 from three. Â
Madelynn Muniz scored 18 points after shooting a perfect 6-for-6 from beyond the arc.
Dylan Swindle made two treys and
Maddy Tauro and
Kya Pearson each made one.
Cristina Jones picked up another double-double after leading the team with 22 points and 12 rebounds. The Titans shot 47.8% from the floor (33-for-69) and 55.6% from beyond the arc. The Titans forced 24 turnovers and had 16 steals for the game and 27 points off turnovers.
Both sides traded baskets early in the game with the Titans jumping to a 12-6 lead before the Highlanders caught back up.
After the score was tied 16-16 with 2:47 in the first, the Titans went on a 6-0 scoring run to take a 22-16 lead into the second quarter.

The Highlanders quickly erased the lead early in the second quarter at 26-25. However, the Titans responded with a 10-2 scoring run to take a nine point lead (36-27) over the Highlanders.

UCR went on a 7-0 run to make it a 36-34 game beforeÂ
Madelynn Muniz hit her second three pointer of the quarter to give the Titans a 39-34 lead into halftime.

In the third quarter, the Titans outscored the Highlanders 25-to-14. The Titans made five three-pointers for the quarter with Muniz sinking two of them along with
Kya Pearson,
Dylan Swindle, and
Maddy Tauro.

The Titans led by 16 points, 64-48 heading into the final quarter.
Madelynn Muniz remained perfect from three as she started the fourth quarter with back-to-back treys to tie her career high with six three's.

The Titans stretched their lead to as much as 21 points during the fourth quarter as they held on to the double-digit win over the Highlanders.
The Titans will head to Long Beach State on Thursday. Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m. at the Pyramid.
