Reno, Nev. – The Titans traveled back to the University of Nevada for the Nevada Invitational on Friday. Cal State Fullerton finished day one with nine podium finishes; seven on the track and two on the field.
The two distance medley relay teams highlighted the day, each finishing in first and rewriting the record books. JT McCoy,
Parker Harrison,
Kofi Rossi and Luke Hitchcock raced for the men's team, running a 9:59.89 time, beating last year's record of 10:00.42. For the women, Makena Oliva,
Mia Walker, Natalyn Membreno, and Isabella Smith logged an 11:53.28 time, better than last year's 11:55.71 mark.
Ian Dossman and
Maleik Pabon finished atop the podium in the men's 60m dash. After both Titans ran a 6.76 time in the preliminary rounds, Dossman came out on top with a final time of 6.66, a new personal-best, finishing in first and Pabon in second with a time of 6.69.
Dominic Gates also qualified for the finals with his time of 6.87. In the finals he finished at the 6.89 mark.
On the women's side of the 60m dash,
Brooklyn Davis qualified for the finals after her second place, 7.49 mark. Davis ran a faster 7.45, finishing in third.
Abel Jordan and
Maya Osola represented the Titans in the 60m hurdles events. Jordan recorded a 7.87 first place finish in the finals after qualifying with a time of 7.92. Osola qualified with a time of 8.85 and finished at the 8.92 mark.
Fiona Holloway tallied the final podium finish on the track, with her 2:58.43 performance in the women's 1000m run. Ashlynn Viramontes was right behind her with a time of 2:58.66, finishing in fourth.
Damari Miller and
Sebastian Ikolo tallied two more podium finishes for Fullerton. The pair finished in second and third place in the men's long jump. Ikolo recorded a 7.15m jump, good for second while Miller had a 7.02m jump, placing third. Osola competed in the women's long jump recorded a 5.28m mark.
Jocelyn Alexander and Alex Sheldon rounded out the field events in the women's weight throw. Alexander recorded a 15.13m throw, placing eighth, while Sheldon logged a 14.24m throw.
The Titans are back in action tomorrow for day two of the Nevada Invitational.
