Titans Wins Seventh in a Row To Finish Non-Conference Play Undefeated

FULLERTON, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton women's soccer team continued their historic start to the 2025 season after defeating San Jose State 1-0 at home on Thursday night to wrap up non conference play. 

The Titans head into Big West play on Sunday undefeated for the first time in program history.  The Titans won their seventh game in a row after starting the season with a 0-0 tie against Cal.

The Titans offense had their fourth straight game with 24 shots or more.  The Titans had 12 shots on goal for the game.  Isabella Cruz scored her fourth game winning goal of the season after giving the Titans a lead in the 68th minute.   The Titans defense picked up their sixth shutout of the season as they head into conference play with a +11 goal differential (14 goals forwarded, 3 goals allowed). 

The Titans outshot San Jose State 13-to-6 in the first half as the Titans had numerous good looks on goal but couldn't get it past the Spartan keeper, Paige Fry wh omade 11 saves for the game and seven saves in the first half.

The Titans offense continued to try and break down the Spartan defense in the second half.  They finally found their moment in the 68th minute after a perfectly executed counterattack.  Isaac Ranson caught a San Jose State cornerkick.  He launched the ball up to Sasha Amezcua who dribbled it past a couple Spartan defenders.  Amezcua found Isabella Cruz who beat the keeper to the far post to give the Titans the lead. 



The Titans continued to pepper the Spartans goal with shots to increase their advantage but couldn't find the back of the net again.  The Titans outshot San Jose 12-to-2 in the second half. 

Isaac Ranson made five saves for the game and picked up another goalkeeper shutout.  Ranson now has 308 saves for his career which is four behind Karen Bardsley's 312 career saves.  Ranson also picked up their 29th win of their career and fifth solo shutout of the season. 

The Titans head into Big West play on Sunday at home as they will host the CSUN Matadors in their conference opener.  The Titans match against the Matadors will kick off at 5:00 p.m.
