Titans Win 5th Game in a Row with Victory Over New Mexico State at Home

FULLERTON, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton Titans women's soccer team continued their strong form with a 3-2 win over New Mexico State at home on Thursday night at Titan Stadium.

The Titans improved to 5-0-1 to start the season.

The Titans had another strong offensive display on the field after scoring three goals again and six goals in their last two games.  They also had their best shooting night with 28 shots and 8 shots on goal.  Sail Bozinovic opened up her collegiate goal scoring account by scoring twice and Camryn Cruz scored in her second straight game.  The Titans defense while only allowing nine shots, conceded two goals, after coming into the game allowing just one goal so far in the previous five games.

Sail Bozinovic set the tone early with a goal in the 4th minute.  Isabella Conteras had a throw in to Isabella Cruz who dribbled down the right side of the box and crossed it to a wide open Bozinovic who tapped it in for her first collegiate goal.

The Aggies equalized five minutes later after a long ball and two headers allowed Ariana Leamons to muscle off a Titan defender and put it past the Titans goalkeeper to make it 1-1.

The Titans restored the lead in the 19th minute on a nice attacking display.  Jenae Perez crossed a ball into the box and Ashlyn Gwynn forced the goalkeeper to make a sail.  Bozinovic was in the perfect spot to clean up the rebound off the keeper to make it a 2-1 game.

The Titans went into halftime ahead 2-to-1 with the shot count 11-to-6.

In the second half, the Titans played a majority of it inside the Aggies defensive half.  They were finally rewarded n the 74th minute. After a foul outside the box.  Jenae Perez sent in the free kick to an unmarked Camryn Cruz who flick headed the ball into the far post to make it 3-1.  This was Camryn Cruz's second ever collegiate goal in her second straight game.

The Titans subbed in multiple players towards the final 15 minutes of the game.  New Mexico State found a late consolation goal in the 85th minute to make it a 3-2 game.  The Titans were able to see out the rest of the game to preserve the win.

The Titans will remain a home to take on another team from the Land of Enchantment.  They will host University of New Mexico on Sunday, September 14th.  Kick-off is set for 2:0 p.m.  While the Titans will also hold their senior day in a pregame ceremony.

It was also the 300th win in program history for the Titans.
