NAPA, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton women's golf placed seventh at the Chevron Silverado Wednesday afternoon at the Silverado Resort.
The Titans finished with 15-over par 864 to beat two ranked opponents while finishing just a couple strokes back of the No. 3 and No. 16 teams in the country.
Kaitlyn Zermeno Smith had another strong showing, finishing the three-day tournament tied for fourth place after shooting 4-under par 212. Zermeno Smith had an impressive 6-under par 66 in the first round before shooting a 73 in rounds two and three. The junior finished one stroke ahead of the No. 2 ranked player in the country from USC.
Davina Xanh finished the tournament tied for 28th with a score of 5-over par 221 (80-71-70). Louise Dahl placed tied for 39th, shooting 8-over par 223 (71-80-73). Dahl recorded a hole-in-one on the par 3 seventh hole in the third round.
Katharina Zeilinger placed tied for 48th at 10-over par 226 (73-78-75). Zara Ali rounded out the Titans lineup in 67th place with a score of 16-over par 232 (77-79-76).
Northwestern took first place in the tournament at 3-under par. Lauryn Nguyen of Northwestern, took first place individually with a 9-under par 207.
The Titans look to carry their momentum into the Big West Championship, Apr.13-15 at the Spanish Trail Country Club.
