Men's Golf Places Second at The Big West Championship

Tegan Andrews, Will Tanaka, Giacomo Comerio named to the All-Tournament Team

LA QUINTA, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton men's golf finished the Big West Championship in second place behind Long Beach State with a score of 17-under par 847 at the La Quinta Country Club on Tuesday. As a team, the Titans recorded five eagles, 49 birdies and 162 pars. 

Tegan Andrews, Will Tanaka and Giacomo Comerio earned a spot on the All-Tournament team after golfing their way into the top five. Andrews (68-69-74), Tanaka (72-69-70) and Comerio (71-71-69) tied for fifth place with a score of 5-under par 211, leading the Titans to their second place finish. This marked new career-best tournament finishes for Tanaka and Comerio.

Matthew Schafer tied for 13th place after shooting 2-under par 214. Schafer's most productive round came on Monday, finishing the first 18 holes in 68 strokes. Schafer recorded a 71 in round two followed by a 75 in round three. Brenden Ashman rounded out the Titans starting five, placing 55th with a score of 18-over par 234 (81-76-77). 

The Titans concluded their 2024-25 season with a tournament win at the Orange County Classic, a fifth place finish at the Grand Canyon Invitational and four other top 10 finishes.
