FULLERTON, Calif. - On a wet rainy Thursday night, the Cal State Fullerton Titans women's water polo team dropped their Big West conference opener against No. 13 UC Irvine 16-5 at the Fullerton College Pool.

Emme Doube-MacLeod led the Titans with two goals.  Delaney LAtham, Mia Solorzano, and Jade Lonzo also scored for the Titans.  The Titans No. 1 goalkeeper remained unavailable for the game as Sienna Bertsch drew her fourth start of the season. The freshman duo of Bertsch and Alexandra Ortiz combined to make 4 saves.  

The first quarter was a back and forth affair between both sides.  Emme Doube-MacLeod drew first blood as she opened the scoring for the Titans.  The Titans scored twice before Delaney Latham equalized to make it 2-2.  The Anteaters got two more goals in the period before Mia Solorzano scored to make it a 4-3 game.

The Anteaters scored five times in the second quarter and held the Titans scoreless and took a 9-3 lead into halftime.

Emme Doube-MacLeod added her second tally of the day in the third quarter as the Anteaters outscored the Titans 3-to-1 in the period.  UCI led 12-4 after three quarters.

Jade Lonzo scored in the fourth period as the Anteaters outscored the Titans 4-to-1 in the final frame.  

The Titans will remain in Fullerton as they host No. 7 Long Beach State on Saturday afternoon at Fullerton College.  The game is set for 12:00 p.m. noon start.
