AUSTIN, Texas - The Cal State Fullerton Titans took to the road this weekend for their first out-of-state meet of the season. The Titans competed in the Texas Relays at the University of Texas and the Bobcat Invitational in San Marcos, TX.
Ian Dossman was the headliner once again as he competed in the men's 100m, 200m Invitational, and the men's 4x100 at the Texas Relays. In his second meet of the season, Dossman once again did what he does best and broke records.Â
Dossman placed second in the 100m outdoor with a time of 10.16 that would have been good for a school record had it not been for the wind.
The sophomore out of Elk Grove, CA went out and got himself his second school record of the season in the men's 200m with a time of 20.56 which broke his previous school record that was set at the Ben Brown Invite earlier this season.
Dossman was also a member of the men's 4x100 team that came out of the blocks quick to win their preliminary heat with a time of 39.61. Maleik Pabon, John Clifford, Dominic Gates, and Dossman's mark qualified them third overall at the Texas Relays and placed them as the second fastest team ever at Cal State Fullerton.Â
The women's 4x100 team with Brooklyn Davis, Tayla Brunger, Ashley Odiase, and Jayde Charlton also had a successful race as they finished their preliminary heat with a time of 46.09 that moved them into the 10th spot in the Fullerton all-time record book.
The men and women's 4x400 teams both performed well and were able to make their way into the all-time top 10 for the Titans.Â
The women's 4x400 team that consisted of Nancy Dematte, Arionn Livingston, Tayla Brunger, and Alyssa Heinlein finished with a time of 3:42.37 that placed them 11th in the meet and tied for fifth all-time for the Titans.
The men completed their preliminary round with a time of 3:08.61 which qualified them for the final in third place and placed them in the Fullerton record books at number four all-time.
In the final, the men finished with a time of 3:07.34 to take fourth place. The time moved the men into third all-time for Cal State Fullerton.
In the individual events, Alyssa Heinlein was the first Titan to compete in the Texas Relays, and got things started with a time of 1:01.05 in the 400m hurdles that placed her 31st in the meet and moved her into the ninth position all-time in the event for Fullerton.
Bella Turner followed up that performance in the women's 400m hurdles with a time of 1:01.87 which was slightly off pace of her season best 1:01.37 at last week's Jim Bush Legends Classic at UCLA.
In the men's 110m hurdles, Joshua Hornsby nearly surpassed his season best of 13.88 with a time of 13.91 which was good enough to jump into the fourth spot all-time at Cal State Fullerton.
John Clifford ran in heat two of the men's 100m and finished with a time of 10.41 that moved him into ninth place all-time.
Olivia Walker achieved her personal best time of 1:01.11 in the women's 400m hurdles. Her time ranks her ninth all-time in the event for the Titans.
The final individual track competitors at the Bobcat Invitational, Arionn Livingston and Nancy Dematte, ended the meet on a high note as Livingston finished the 400m in third place with a new PR of 54.34 that also placed her sixth overall at Cal State Fullerton.
Dematte also had a new PR in the 400m with her time of 54.86 as she finished the event in seventh place.
On the field, freshman Sebastian Ikolo had his season's best performance in the men's high jump with his mark of 2.06m (6-09.00) at the Bobcat Invitational and finished the meet in sixth place.
In the final day of the Bobcat Invitational, Carissa Martinez scored a new PR in the women's high jump with a mark of 1.66m (5-05.25) to finish tied for eighth in the competition. Martinez also placed herself tied for sixth place all-time at Cal State Fullerton.
Dannette Haygood finished the women's triple jump with a mark of 12.23m to place her 12th at the Bobcat Invite and eighth all-time for the Titans.
The Titans are back on the road next week as they travel to Palo Alto to participate in the Stanford Invitational on Friday, April 4.
