FULLERTON, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton Titans women's basketball team won their third game in a row after defeating Portland State 81-66 at home on Saturday afternoon at Titan Gym.
The Titans improved to 5-5 overall for the season. Â
The Titans had their best shooting game from the floor as they shot 50% (31-for-62) and were 3-for-9 from beyond the arc. Â The Titans were also 16-for-18 from the free throw line, shooting 88.9%. Â The Titans had four players in double figures in scoring. Â
Dylan Swindle led the team with 15 points,
Maddy Tauro scored 14 points,
Kya Pearson scored 13 points, and
Jana Falsdottir scored 13 points. The Titans defense had 12 steals for the game and forced 26 Portland turnovers.  They scored 32 points off turnovers and 40 of their points inside the paint.
The Titans got off to a hot start to the game as they went on a 10-0 run over the first 2 and half minutes.
After Portland scored the next four points, the Titans stretched the lead back to 13 points after a
Maxine Sutisna jumper made it 19-6. Â The Vikings brought it back to within six points at 19-13 before
Jana Falsdottir scored the final six points of the quarter to give the Titans a 25-10 lead after the first quarter.
The Titans were outscored by the Vikings 18-to-17 in the second quarter. Â The Vikings cut the Titans lead down to four points twice but the Titans were able to finish the quarter strong and took a 42-33 lead into halftime.
In the third quarter, the Titans separated themselves fully from the Vikings as they outscored them 24-to-17 in the third quarter. Â
Maddy Tauro scored 8 points in a row early in the period. Â She finished with 14 points in just 9 minutes on 7-for-9 shooting.Â
The Vikings cut the lead to five points, 54-to-49 with 2:02 left to play in the third. Â The Titans then went on a 12-1 scoring run over the final two minutes to take a 64-50 lead into the final quarter.
The Titans started the fourth quarter on a 8-1 run to stretch the lead to 23 points (74-to-51). Â The Vikings closed out the game on a 15-to-7 run as the Titans ran out a line change midway though the fourth quarter.Â
The Titans will play their final non-conference road game next Saturday at the University of San Diego. Â Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m. at the Jenny Craig Pavilion.
