FULLERTON, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton Titans women's soccer team continued their best program start in history with a 2-1 win at home over the University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine. Â
The Titans improved to 9-0-2 overall and 2-0-1 in Big West play.Â
After being the aggressors early against the 'Bows, the Titans struck were able to strike early in the first half. Â
Skye Johnson played a long ball to
Isabella Cruz who played the bounce of the ball perfectly and was able to control it and send a through ball to
Kayalily Penn. The freshman was able to one touch it past the keeper to score her first career goal and give the Titans a 1-0 lead.
The Rainbow Wahine found an equalizer 10 minutes into the second half after Nalani Damacion and Amber Gilbert combined on a 1-2 combination to make it a 1-1 game.
However, the Titans immediately responded almost a minute later in the 57th minute. Â
Camryn Cruz played a ball down the right sideline to
Kyah Otholt. Â She dribbled past her defender and whipped in a cross through the box. Â
Cayla Oliveira made a nice touch past her defender and then beat the keeper to make it a 2-1 game.
Both sides had a couple more looks before the half ended as the Titans were able to see out the victory.
The Titans will look to continue their unbeaten start to the season when they host UC Davis on Sunday. Â Kick-off is set for 2:00 P.M.
